As I strolled down Napier Road in Fort Kochi, I left the Loving Earth Cafe and stumbled upon a hidden gem - a stunning double-storey building with exquisite wall designs. Rows of pots lined the exterior, and the captivating murals on the walls featured sensuous women, delicate decorative designs, and simple flower patterns that drew my eyes up to the rows of empty plots with lifeless, withered plant stems. It was a living memory of an untold story, and I was mesmerized by its beauty. I couldn't help but wonder whether the abandoned houses in the area were left by their tenants or whether the houses outlived them. Despite their abandonment, they still held a special place in the hearts of the locals, serving as a reminder of the rich cultural history of Fort Kochi. As I walked through the area, I felt transported back in time, experiencing the lives of those who once called this place home. The buildings were a living museum, offering a glimpse into the past and the people who once lived there. Amidst the fascinating historical landscape, I found the Loving Earth Cafe, a serene and peaceful haven that provided a stark contrast to the bustling activity of Napier Road. It was the perfect place to stop, reflect and contemplate the stories that the buildings in the area had to tell. In conclusion, my discovery of the abandoned houses on Napier Road was a personal and intimate experience that left a lasting impression on me. The stunning double-storey building, incredible wall designs, and captivating murals all told a story that invited me to step back in time and experience the lives of those who once lived there.
